MUSIC LESSONS

“I would have given up singing if I hadn’t discovered your teaching.”
Thanks so much!

Maggie

“….She teaches the important things, the anatomy of voice, training the body to sing without stress or strain. She emphasizes practice, teaching exercises patiently over and over until this student “gets it.”
Pat

“...extremely helpful exercises that added a lot to my vocal skills, including a big expansion of my range, much more air, clearer enunciation and better expressiveness…increasing my strength and control. Working with Kate was a great experience and a valuable asset.”
Dan R.

“Thank you for teaching us to play piano, helping us to better understand music and introducing us to new ways of playing piano!”
Matt and Janis

Kate O’Connor teaches voice, piano, steel drum and acoustic guitar privately, remotely, and on location at Northampton Community Music Center and Downtown Sound in Northampton, MA.

Kate enjoys guiding her students to learn to sing and play with power, flexibility, range, emotion, sensitivity, and creativity.  Whether you are a professional musician wanting to learn correct technique to make the most of your instrument,  keep your voice/hands healthy, and have a long career; or you like to sing or play for fun and community, Kate’s patient and supportive instruction can inspire you to learn how do your best. Kate’s knowledge incorporates contemporary science of breathing, alignment, ergonomics, and Chinese energy protocols (qi gong) where appropriate.
